Pre-Production
Storyboards

I had the pleasure of boarding 3 early sequences of the film
Act 1 Beat 1

Act 2 Beat 4
I worked to reiterate a few of my boards to help the other animators clearly understand the story. However, for visual clarity and consistency, many of my boards were re-drawn by our art director

Act 2 Beat 4 revised for clarity and consistency
Working with my team, and in particular the film's director and our art director, I revised my boards.
Act 3 Beat 2

I'm still a little upset with myself for this one. These boards were done in about 15 minutes between classes.
I wanted to change the camera angle after this, but unfortunately it was too late and a change would have caused a continuity error. I ended up being assigned this shot to animate and I still think our film would be better had I just taken more time at this stage.
Textures

I produced many textures during pre-production. The most daunting of which were Harry's.

Harry was our problem child for the whole of production. That included his textures, thus, why they needed redone.
To create these I spent several hours painstakingly using substance painter. I cross referenced his concept art countless times. Unfortunately, he needed new UVs and his color harmony was off from the rest of the film. Not to mention my brush strokes were not as trained as those on Max.
I also made plenty of environmental textures (coming soon on this site). Most of which were updated to better match color harmony.

Animation

Shot 5
This was a particularly difficult shot for me. After many, many, many iterations, I did need to get help with clean up so I could focus on my other shot.

Shot 12
Max is a very difficult character for me to animate in general. His poses are snappy and dynamic. He's always moving his hands. I struggled a lot to pull this shot together, but I managed to do it. I was always fixing his hands in this shot
